Papal Blessing for Old Farts Surf Co

In a spiritual pilgrimage to the Vat(ican), Old Farts Surf Co (OFSC). Spirit(ual) Director and Head Honcho of Heartwood Malt Whiskey Pty Ltd (makers of the world's best Whisky), Tim Duckett, secured what no other surf company has ever secured before -  the Papal Blessing.

According to OFSC Head Honcho, The Mexican, "we got the news late yesterday and oldfartsurfers around the world are rejoicing with their favourite Heartwood release and getting Velvet Hammered".  To mark this special event Heartwood have Unchained and Released Convicts.

According master distiller Tim "it was pretty simple really, I just rocked up and had a bit of a chat with Bene (or PB as I call him) and let him know I'd released the Vat(ican) out of Hell, he was pretty keen on getting his hands on bottle no. 666 of Release the Beast, but we didn't go that far so in true papal style he settled on the Convict Redemption".

The Mex said "there was a rumour the four leaf coven our distiller picked up on the preceding spirit(ual) tour Ireland may have had some influence on PB's decision, but he was Pretty Mums on this.  As they say, what happens on tour .."

Research, Research, Research & Baby Bob Breaks Two Fins

Bizarre things can happen to oldfartsurfers who wait.  The past 24 hours has seen the Old Farts Surf Co. Head Honcho, The Mexican (OFSC No. 4) extend his research into the worlds best whiskeys, train a potential oldfartsurfer in the fine art of getting stoked, the development of a new line of designer Jimmy Choo surf boots for lady oldfartsurfers and, tragically, this morning the Dude's  Baby Bob lost both starboard side fins.  This is why the Old Farts Surf Co. is more than just a company, it is a movement, rapidly growing with a passionate fan base of oldfartsurfers around the world who are still stoked on surfing.

According to the Mexican "Considerable research has gone into choosing the Old Farts Surf Co. official whiskey.  One of the world's best whiskey producers, Heartwood Malt Whiskey, has been chosen as the official whiskey producer, however, the we still need to choose our 2012 official whiskey from their exquisite range" .  To that end the Mex has been putting considerable research with Heartwood head honcho, Tim Duckett.  "We have refined our search to two releases the sublime 'Convict Release' which comes in with a high but modest 58% alcohol or the 'convict Unchained' which comes in at a whopping 71.9% alcohol" said the Mex.  "With Tim's guidance I should be able to announce the winner soon."

According to the Mex "we have some pretty promising oldfartsurfers coming up, I've just witnessed the prowess of a young dude and he achieved a considerable level of being stoked, this is what oldfartsurfing is all about"

The Old Farts Surf Co. is always looking for new, fashionable but practical oldfartsurfwear.  You would be pleased to know that we will look at a deal with  internationally acclaimed shoe designer Jimmy Choo, to market a replacement for the traditional surf ugg boot.  "I know oldfartsurfers love their uggies, however, we think this new boot will be heaps better" said the Mexican.  "It has a knitted  pure merino wool upper with a beachwear soul, that's right soul.  We are pretty excited about it and will let you know the release date of the yet to be named beach boot".  There are rumours that The Mex might call it the "Soul Boot"
(Two Heartwood Whiskey's to replace Baby Bob's two fins)
The Mexican reports that in an oldfartsurfsession this morning, "the Dude wiped out and landed on the Baby Bob's starboard fins, breaking both of them clean off."  "Fortunately there was no damage to the Dude or BB's underside."  reported Mex.  We think that the Dude might try and build a couple of his famous hollow timber fins to replace them.  This was only the third or fourth outing for Baby Bob so we send the Dude the sympathy of oldfartsurfers from around the world.

Spot Applies the Principle of Specificity to Surfing Fitness

Last weekend Mastersurfitness Guru and Oldfartsurfer No. 6, Spot, and Oldfartsurfer No. 4, the Mexican, made a sojourn back to, Byron Bay, the birthplace of Bob the Bobsled.
(Bob the Bobsled the day he was born in the McTavish factory, 25th June 2010)
Spot & Mex were aiming to get down there for the traditional Eggs Benedict breakfast at their favourite seaside restaurant with none other than Oldfartsurfer No. 31, Les, and Oldfartsurfer No. 3, Yummy Granny.  Unfortunately, our intrepid epicureans missed breaky by about 5 minutes and had to settle for lunch.  "The restaurant obviously hadn't heard of the concept of the all day breakfast"  said Yummy.  However, the oldfartsurfers managed to scoff down two seafood platters in good time for Les to have a grandfather nap before driving home.

After lunch, Spot and Mex had a dag at the Wreck before Spot had to watch the Cats pounce on some poor insignificant team.  Meanwhile, The Mex wandered up to The Pass which was 1'-2' and crowded with missile mals and kooks.  "It looked pretty hairy out their" said Mex, "but I'd made the effort to walk around there so thought I'd give it a crack".  "Quite surprisingly I managed to snag a few zippy ones through the middle section that made Bob feel at home" said Mex,  "Bob had a bit of a battle with a mal missile that insisted on dropping in, but discretion was the better part of valour and bob came away unscathed".  Mex's sage advice for oldfartsurfers wishing to stay stoked is "its better to leave the 6'4" boofhead on the mal alone and live to surf another day".

After nearly wiping out half the surf school who were floundering on the inside, Mex wandered back and gathered Spot for a late surf before dinner.  The surf weary Oldfartsurfers couldn't quite finish their falafel smorgasbord served by some friendly hippie chicks but managed to wash it down with some BYO brews.  They then managed to watch the Wallabies smashing the Springboks till half time in the local pub before calling it a night.

The next morning Spot and Mex had a glassy session just north of The Wreck.  Spot got spooked and asked the Mex "are those fins dolphins".  "Yeah sure" said Mex hopefully.
In honour of the great Canadian Oldfartsurfer No. 5, Moose, The boys had a Canadian breakfast with bacon and maple syrup.

Over breakfast Spot complained of tired muscles from paddling.  Intrigued, Mex asked Spot the Surfitness Guru what the best exercise for paddling surfitness was.  "Well there isn't much you can do in the gym to emulate paddling"  said Spot professorially,  "I would therefore apply the Principle of Specificity, which basically means surfing is the best way of getting fit for surfing".  "What a great idea" said Mex, "that way you can have fun surfing while you get fit so you can have fun surfing, that's pure genius Spot".
(Mastersurfitnes Guru and Oldfartsurfer No. 6, Spot, practising the Principle of Specificity)
Concerned for the health of Oldfartsurfers around the world reading his advice, Spot went on to caution about risks to people with cardio vascular, cardio respiratory or metabolic conditions.  "Any oldfartsurfer over the age of 45 is automatically classified as moderate risk" said Spot.  "This risk is upgraded to high if the olfartsurfer has one of these conditions or if they have two or more of the risk factors such as high blood pressure, obesity or a family history of heart disease or stroke".  "Geez, Better  better take it easy then" said Mex.

OFSC Bucket Hats Latest Teen Fad

Old Farts Surf Co. (OFSC) is receiving repeat orders for bucket hats from oldfartsurfers around the world due to the latest teenage craze - teenage girls are taking to wearing their fathers and grandfather's OFSC Bucket Hats.

The Good Woman, said "when I conceived the idea of bucket hats, I was thinking of beach apparel for mature men, but they really work for the young ladies.  Not only are they wearing them at the beach but also at birthday parties and sleepovers."  According to the Head Honcho of the OFSC , The Mexican, to be really trendy the girls must wear a hat that has been pre-loved by their old man, grandfather or uncle.  "That's why we're getting the replacement orders, the guys can't get their hats back, and they can't live or be seen at the beach without them".
